The State of the Union

Josh January 31st, 2006

In what state do we find our union?

We’ve shown our hatred for the God of the Scriptures. We’ve shown our hatred for His Word. We’ve shown our hatred for the idea of a government acknowledged and brought to fruition as having been established by Christ as the head and cause. Where are the Covenanters?

Despite the lip service, we’ve also shown our hatred for constitutional government as defined by the Constitution of the United States. It has become a mere historical document, rather than a governing one. The State of the Union?

A socialist state.

We have Presidents who profess Christ yet call Isalm a “noble” faith. Yea, I know, they’re not theologians, but does one have to be a theologian to recognize the sole and distinct supremacy of the Christian faith as defined by the Reformational principle Sola Scriptura? The so-called “radical” Islam is historical Islam. All other variants found throughout which seem to be “peaceful” are not truly Islam.

Conservatism, as it truly is, severely lacks adherents in our day. There are many who call themselves such, yet they lack the true principles which really define the values of a conservative. Conservatism is not defined by by being War-Hawkish, though when War is inevitable Conservatives should indeed be Hawkish, Solidified, and Firm. Conservatism is not defined by liberating other countries, though conservatism does produce such. Liberation of a country comes from within. I fear that while America tries to bring “freedom and democracy” to the ends of the earth, we’re slowly losing that freedom here by means of heavy government intervention in our lives, unjustified taxation, “laws” enforced upon us by those who are not elected, etc.

Wanna “fix” Social Security? Here’s how: Nix it.

Wanna “fix” New Orleans? Here’s how: Nix it.

Ok. I’ll stop.

There are so many things that could be touched upon in this venting post that it could become an exhausting entry, but I will relent. I try to stay away from political blogging, but maybe I shouldn’t? Who knows.

All that being said, and though I disagree fundamentally with my President in many things, I still loved one particular priceless look on the face of that snake, Hillary Clinton, this evening during the State of the Union address.

The State of the Union. Now there’s a familiar phrase. At one point I deleted many posts from my blog that had to do with politics. I had decided I didn’t want much content concerning politics coming from my blog. Big Brother watches, and Big Brother squashes. At least He would like to, given juncture.

I’ll be honest…I’m sick and tired of politics, yet I’m concerned about the over-arching Government encroachment and abuse of tax-paying citizens in the United States. I am positive that most who identify themselves as Conservative would find themselves quite a bit to the left of me. Much “Conservatism” today is really not Conservative at all. In fact, if one were to opine an opposition to the “War” in Iraq, they would immediately be lambasted as being liberal hippy scum by many “Conservatives”, whether or not their reason for opposition was for the same reasons as the true liberal hippy scum. That’s just an example.

There’s so much truth “out there” that’s not being told. Not being discussed. Not being uncovered. Not being exposed. Revisionist history is being taught, rather, is being shoved down the throats of our kids, even in “Christian” schools and the like. There’s misrepresentation on all sides, and I find it all quite disconcerting. I will tell you this, however: Ignorance is not the problem that my nation is having. We can have information at the drop of a hat. Ignorance is not the problem; rather, Apathy is the culprit in our misguided land. Ultimately, sin is the root of all man’s woes.

I am unashamedly, unabashedly, proudly, overtly, outwardly, proactively conservative on my views of government. I used to call myself a Republican. I can no longer do that in good conscience. Nor can I call myself, nor have I ever, a Democrat. In this nation, the two are becoming synonymous: Socialistic, Power-hungry, Invasive, Ungodly. Everyone always says, “Yeah, I know…I don’t particularly like ’so and so’, but he’s ‘the lesser of two evils’ “. Such can be true, but evil is evil still, no? Being it said that I am conservative I must, however, distinguish and separate myself from many today who call themselves conservative.

President Bush calls himself conservative. He is not. Relatively speaking, he may be…but I do not have a relativistic worldview. Dick Cheney calls himself conservative. He is not. Many folks in Congress call themselves conservative, who, by their voting record, show little or no signs of such ideology whatsoever. When I say conservative, I mean not only economically, but socially, religiously, etc. etc. I know, I know. “Josh, you must define your terms.” I understand, and before my life is over, I hope to have accomplished such a definition. So, how can I say such a thing? Easily.

Did you know that, out of all the high-level Bush Cabinet-appointees, only one was SOLIDLY pro-life. All other held “exceptions” (though the Republican platform gives no exceptions) in certain cases (rape, incest, etc.). The only appointee who held no exceptions was Mr. John Ashcroft. However, even this doesn’t make Mr. Ashcroft (who’s no longer with the Administration) a conservative. Some of the most blatant assaults on American’s civil liberties can be found in the Patriot Act. The Department of Justice, along with many many others, pushed for this mammoth piece of legislation.

President Bush, in his “compassionate” conservatism, has granted amnesty to over 11 million illegal aliens. Such is not conservatism, but is outright socialism. How so? Well, do you think that the illegal aliens pay for their healthcare that they receive here in the United States? Negative. Who does? You say, “The Government” Ha! What a way to make it sound better! Who pays the government, folks? You. Me. The American Taxpayer. Yet, when we need help, assistance, etc. with healthcare costs, etc. do you really think Uncle Sam is hopping to foot your bill? Negative. Hypocrisy.

Legislation has been recently passed that will pay hospitals (at the expense of guess who? YOU) so much money for helping illegal aliens! This is outrageous! What ever happened to the Constitution? Whatever happened to impeaching judges who legislate, not through Congress, but from the bench? Such is Constitutionally unfounded. The judiciary branch of the government is not, nor has ever been, for the purpose of legislating…they’re not even elected representatives! How dare they think they can rule on our behalf, when not even elected by our votes. This is why all laws should come through Congress.

Ok…I have a little bit off my chest. Forgive my random spill. I’ll feel better later.
