Oh How I Love God’s Word! But Not Nearly Enough
Josh April 28th, 2007
I have had such a sweet time of fellowship with the Lord this morning in His Word. There have been frowning providences sent my way in which times no finite flesh and blood was able to bring comfort. But the great Comforter, the Holy Spirit of God, did not leave me totally bereft of peace.
Nay, it was God’s Word that carried me through. It was His Word that nurtured, healed, and comforted me. I am so very thankful that God, Almighty God, has graciously chosen to take me under His wing. He is so good to me.
There are those who still erroneously seek after “words of knowledge”, “prophecies”, and “miracles, signs, & wonders” apart from Scripture. May God bring them to the truth. By God’s grace, though, I am encouraged by Peter’s Words:
2 Peter 1:19 And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
And I can rest assured that I needn’t seek after anything beyond the power and scope of the Holy Spirit in the Word of God (nothing is beyond that power anyway!), given to us in Christ, the Living Word (John 1)
Heb 1:1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
Now, God was pleased to give us a more sure Word. Namely, the written Word of God, which is no doubt a lampt unto our feet and light unto our path. In this Word, and by the workings of the Spirit, we have all we need for salvation, sanctification, comfort and life altogether. Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
Jude 3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
Let us earnestly contend for the faith given to us by the Triune God, who was, and is, and is to come! For:
Rom 10:So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Thank You, Lord, for Your Word.
Psalm 119:97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.

This Book was nothing to me for many years. I am so infinitely happy that God in His wisdom changed my heart and made me love it.
He is Wonderful!
God’s word is awesome, isn’t it? I think I would be a lot better off if I turned to it more and sooner than I do.
